Long day

I'm not sure what time it was that Sue woke me up this morning. Possibly around 5.00.

Although our roof was supposedly repaired yesterday we had a lot of rain overnight and it turns out that the roof is still leaking - into our bedroom. It's not a major leak and thankfully it's not over our bed but even so, any kind of water coming into our bedroom is not good. Sue was quite upset. She'd been awake for quite a while.

So did I mind being woken up so early? Nope. Especially as she warmed her hands up on me in that
special way
she does. And that lead to the perfect start to the day as far as I'm concerned.

I made some tea and took it back to the bedroom to find Sue with her head through the skylight in the rain trying to figure out where the water might be coming in. If any neighbours had been awake at that time of the morning (it was probably about 6.00 by now) they would have seen the two of us in our dressing gowns sticking our heads out of skylights peering at the roof.

We eventually made it back to bed, I snuggled up to her back and we had a glorious hour of spooning with me rubbing her back, shoulders, neck. I get so much pleasure out of snuggling up to her back and running my hands over her body, grinding myself against her, that it's almost as good as sex. It's at times like this that I'm so thankful that we never wear any clothes in bed.

So by 7.00 we'd had about half an hour of sex, half an hour of fiddling about with the roof and an hour of spooning. Apart from the roof part it was a pretty spectacular start to the day.

Sue got up at 7.00 to start getting Daughter ready for school. She got back from her trip to France yesterday (she had a good time - I might go into that another time). I got up (still in my dressing gown) half an hour later.

Son was away Thursday night and wasn't due back until this afternoon so when Daughter left for school we had the house to ourselves. We spent some more time looking at the roof in our dressing gowns. I should probably explain that we have three skylights in the ceiling of our loft-conversion bedroom so you can open a skylight, poke your head outside and actually touch the slates. Anyway, Sue, clever woman that she is, managed to effect a repair using a rubber mat carefully placed in the right spot over the slates and actually managed to stop the leak.

At that point I was ready to get back into bed and carry on where we had left off earlier but Sue was still wound up about the roof situation and wasn't in the mood. So I had a shower instead. After my shower I found Sue back in bed so of course I had to join her. This time it was no gentle love-making as it had been earlier. With no-one else the house we didn't have to worry about noise and…well, let's just say we took full advantage of that. I think hard, furious sex was just what we both needed at that point.

Recently - in the last week or so - I've had some trouble keeping an erection. The first time I've had that problem in 28 years that we've been having sex together (that I can recall, anyway). I might have trouble finishing sometimes but I've never had any trouble starting and keeping going - and going and going… So to suddenly have this problem on a couple of occasions is quite a shock. I don't know why it's happened all of a sudden.

If the problem persists I will definitely be making an appointment with the doctor but I was very relieved to find that things seemed to have got back to normal this morning.

And then we snuggled up in my favourite spoons position for and hour or so before I had to reluctantly peel myself away from Sue and get on with my morning chores.

I had to spend this evening away from Sue, though, as I took the teens to a Fall Out Boy concert. Whilst I like a lot of their music I'm not that keen on Fall Out Boy but it actually turned out to be quite enjoyable.

These photos were taken with the cameraphone so quality isn't great...

And this has turned into a very long post - but then it's been a very long day.

Good for Sue. Finding the location of the leak should help quite a bit. And good for the two of you - to have had a lovely time.

Clare, hopefully the roofers will be back next week - they need dry weather to work on it though. Best stress relief there is!

Rosie, yes, at least we know where the problem is now. We did indeed, thanks.

I think part of YOUR problem might have been subconscious...the leak...too. Who the heck knows with THAT sometimes though. I mean it seems that all systems are "go" and then...nothing. The body is QUITE weird.

I LOVE Fallout Boy. Teen son got me interested. Cool that you went. I wonder when they will be here? We've gotten quite a few of "your" imports here lately...my fave by far is Natasha Bettingfield (at least I THINK she's from England...as least CLOSE to you in Wales!)...and what about David Powter? Is he from over there somewhere? I guess not many are actually WELSH..that's like saying since someone is from Canada, they must be close to us here in Texas, but still...you know what I mean, I hope!

Nurse Speak: Check your blood pressures, sometimes... And also, go ahead and make that appointment with your doc. ED can be the first sign of clogged or hardened arteries(not there, but elsewhere in the body). It's not just age, so don't blow it off, and it's not usually sexual in nature, but physical. Nurse Speak Over!

Fall Out Boy would be FUN! Glad you and Sue had some quality time together!

Bex, there are quite a lot of good Welsh bands - not sure how many you would have heard of over there, though. Eg Super Furry Animals, Manic Street Preachers, Feeder, Stereophonics, Lost Prophets, Funeral For A Friend...to name a few.

Jamie, that's interesting, thanks.

ed... i admit, i don't read you often enough. but, every time i do, i click away saying that i should... you know, read you more often. it's strange, because i do feel a kinship with you... i think you are one of the few that look at your wife the way i do... that is, my own wife, lol.

but, more importantly... you have style. and it isn't a style that is contrived or worried over.

no, your style is natural. and quite lovely.

Rick, thanks for the kind words. Sometimes I wish the words were contrived and worried over but I'm usually writing in a hurry late at night so it's usually a case of just getting it down quick. But anyway, thank you - it means a lot coming from one whose writing I admire so much.

SS, I often think that whatever challenges life throws at us, so long as we have each other (and the family, of course) it doesn't really matter.

There is no better or sweeter thing in life than to indulge (timewise) yourself (body, soul and spirit) with the person who knows you as you are, and yet, greets you each morning with a smile and fresh hopes.

Love always hopes.

I know I don't have to say this, but I want to.

Love will always find 'the right path' through these obstacles we face, no matter how severe they are.

In order to merge, sometimes we just have to slow down and yield.

But Love doesn't stop...
spooning. ...even if life brings change.
