Still here
I'm still here - just been very busy with work and family lately.
Sue still hasn't fully recovered from the chest infection that I very kindly passed on to her. She's still very croaky and gets tired easily. I think coming on top of her hypothyroidism and the episode in hospital it's really taken it out of her.
Sunday was a big day for both our children.
First, it was Daughter's birthday. She's 14. I sometimes wonder if one day she will turn into a Terrible Teen. But no sign of that - not at all. She's an angel.
Second, it was VE (Victory in Europe) Day and Son attended a parade and service with Air Cadets - they got together with the local Normandy Veterans Association. He recently got promoted to Sergeant and it was the first time that he'd had a chance to wear his parade dress uniform. It's the same uniform that Royal Air Force Officers wear and he looked very smart indeed. Up to the rank of Corporal cadets wear blue jumpers and berets as part of their uniform - very smart, but nothing like as smart as the RAF Officer's jacket and peaked cap that he gets to wear now. He's quite tall (6'2) so he does look good in a uniform like that.
After the VE Day service we went to a Pizza Hut for lunch at Daughter's request for her birthday. Son was still in his uniform - he loved walking round the centre of Cardiff getting admiring looks from all the girls. He's the complete opposite from me in that respect. I hate attention. As a teenager I would have been as embarrassed as hell wearing a uniform like that around town, but as far as he's concerned the more attention the better.
In fact, he's the opposite of me in many respects. But that's a topic for another day...

Real life can get so involved. Sue really needs time to get better and feel better. We know you are taking good care of her, as she did you - Even if you gave her the germs. And your son is certainly looking good. Hope his grades are looking good also. If he wants to wear the uniform (and catch the eye of all the girls) he will need to apply himself. Gosh, you've probably said the same thing. ;)
i imagine that in many respects you are exactly the same.
congrats to your son on his promotion, and happy belated birthday to your girl!
